Single Touch Payroll (STP) starts from 1 July 2018 for employers with 20 or more employees and will be expanded to include employers with 19 or less employees from 1 July 2019. STP will require employers to report salary and wages, allowances, deductions, tax and superannuation to the ATO each time you pay employees in line with your current pay cycle.
Employers will require STP ready software and those with STP compliant software can choose to report before 1 July 2019. Most employers will find that commonly available commercial software solutions will be compliant however we recommend that you check with your provider to ensure your software is ready by the relevant start date.
Lee Green is joining forces with fellow accounting services firm Major May on 1 July 2018 to create multiple benefits for clients and staff.
The merger will provide our clients with the benefit of greater back office scale and seamless access to deeper and broader expertise – all without the bureaucracy of larger firms.
Our practices are similar and very culturally compatible. Both are committed to ensuring their high levels of client knowledge and service continue under the merged structure. Bringing the two firms together will also create increased opportunities for staff in terms of professional development, expanded experiences and career advancement.

Lee Green was represented at the 2017 Garma Festival by Mike Levy as part of the David Liddiard Group contingent. The Garma Festival is held annually in north east Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory. The festival aims to share knowledge and culture as well as develop economic opportunities for the Yolngu people of Arnhem Land. Like the Barunga Festival also recently attended by Lee Green, the Garma Festival is brilliantly organised and an opportunity to be immersed in and embrace Aboriginal culture. Additionally, the Garma Festival provides an opportunity for two-way discussions and exchanges of ideas, with the theme of the 2017 Festival being "Makarrata – Settling our differences" (refer to the link for a deeper understanding of Makarrata). The presence of the Prime Minister and Opposition Leader provided additional weight to the discussions. Sessions from the Festival are available to be seen on SBS on demand.
As part of our community engagement program, Lee Green has made an ongoing commitment to the Meals on Wheels corporate volunteering program. Team members are volunteering at Meals on Wheels Burnside on a regular basis and have been impressed with the meals as well as the support of the more experienced volunteers. Volunteers assist with with meal preparation, packing and kitchen clean up as well as partaking in a delicious morning tea of scones with jam and cream!
